Why a Blog-umé?

I wanted to create something new, something non-traditional that would showcase my life's professional and personal achievements. I wanted to show more of my personality and character, more than a simple sheet of white all purpose printer paper and some bullet points can.

I came to the conclusion that a Blog-umé would be a great forum to showcase my experiences from the past and give me the ability to keep everyone updated as things develop. Unlike the traditional resumé and cover letter, which can become outdated within a single day, this Blog-umé can be accessed by any potential employer at anytime to find out about my recent activities, projects, volunteering, or employment.

**Please note that this
Blog-umé is currently under construction. I would like to thank you for your patience while I work to bring my Blog-umé up to date**

Residence Council: Sheriff Hall 03/04 Chairperson

Residence was a great experience. I was able meet and get to know a huge number of wonderful people and make some amazing friends.  There are a ton of resources available for first year students who move into a residence on campus. After my first year in residence I wanted to help the next year find their feet so that they could enjoy university life just as much as I did.  I wanted to be part of a great council that would be there to help new students adjust!

So at the end of my first year I applied to be on the executive council as the Hall Chairperson and started my second year as a proud council member!

As the chair I was responsible for the proceeding of all the council meetings (creating the agenda, scheduling, resource management) as well as be an active floor leader and frosh leader for the year.

In my aim to help the first year students find a comfortable groove, I set up study groups for classes like physics and calculus and created a group study schedule for the floor lounge. Since I was a psych major I decided to head up a mid-term study session for those having trouble in their first year psych class.

But as we all know university isn't all books and studying it is also parties, sports and making friends.

As an active council member I had the opportunity to help with the organization of the Think Pink Charity Ball helping to raise funds for the fight against breast cancer. I was also a chaperon for many events throughout the year.  During the aftermath of Hurricane Juan I volunteered in the cafeteria and also helped to orchestrate taxis to the airport after the White Juan snowstorm and then went out to build one very large snowman with some of the students who were left.

All of this fun left me hungry for more and I decided to stay yet another year in residence and became the first President of the 5th Floor in Risley Hall.
